UNTITLED (Rockaway SERIES)

I consider the Rockaway Peninsula to possess a sort of magical realism, comprised of the unlikely juxtaposition of elements that comprise the place: industrial meets natural, ocean meets city, bay meets ocean, various social classes, a miscellany of architecture, and all of it sitting peacefully at the city’s edge, beneath the roar of air traffic departing and arriving at nearby JFK airport.

These images are part of a larger, ongoing series which depict the unique beauty of these forces, as a series of thematic and increasingly abstract photographic essays.
